What's New

Sault College has just signed a contract to upgrade our existing Mechtronix Flight Training Devices.

The two FTD's will benefit from a new state-of-the-art visual system which will consist of three blended projectors covering a field of view of 40° vertically and 180° horizontally.  (replacing the current 30° by 150° visuals)  The computers will be replaced allowing better fidelity and improved flight modeling as well as enhanced functionality and a better instructor station.  The installation will take place over the next 4 months.  Below is what it will look like.

One small project that was recently completed is having a nice impact on the quality of simulator instruction given to the Aviation Students.  Lights have been added to the glare-shield of our Zlin simulator which greatly improve the daytime look of the instrument panel without interfering with the visual projection.  Before, the individual instrument lights had to be used, even when simulating daylight conditions.  This would make the flight seem like it was still being done at night.  See for yourself the results:
