‘Degree Plus Diploma’ CYW Advanced Standing for University Graduates
Articulation agreements between Sault College and Algoma University acknowledge the value and credibility of both streams of study. This articulation agreement serves as means for graduates from each stream to enhance their credentials. University graduates will gain practical skills and clinical experience in supervised settings. College graduates will enhance their theoretical knowledge.
The Child and Youth Worker Program at Sault College meets Provincial requirements as set out in CSAC (Ministry of Education and Training).This offering is geared specifically to graduates from BA programs with a major in Psychology. Other degree designations will also be considered for advanced standing in the CYW program. A program of study will be tailored to meet the requirements as specified in the CSAC document
Entrance Requirements
BA in Psychology from an Accredited University
Overall B average in area of concentration
Current Resume (including volunteerism, workshops, PD activity)
CPIC – documentation required to attend field placement *
Health Documentation (as per College/Program requirements)
Academic advisement interview- with CYW Program Coordinator or Designate.
* Please be advised that obtaining a CPIC and criminal records check can take at least two weeks. The applicant is advised to begin this process as soon as possible in that placement is dependent upon having this documentation.
It is essential that graduates have current First Aid and CPR competencies. This is not offered through the program but is available at the College or through local services. The cost of this is not covered under tuition fees.
Program Duration for University Graduates
The duration of the program is two semesters. Due to the nature and availability of courses, a September start date is required.

Registration Notes:
Following the academic advisement interview the applicant will need to register
for Semester 3 through the OCAS process. Issues pertinent to this application process will be discussed at the interview. Further information can be attained through the Office of the Registrar and the Financial Aid office.
Although this opportunity is specific to persons with a BA in Psychology, applicants who do not meet the minimum academic requirements will be considered for admission on an individual basis. Transfer of credit may be limited to a course to course basis.
Individuals with credentials from related Community College Programs will continue to access and transfer credit according to the established format.
