Maajtaadaa Anishinaabemowin (Let's Start Ojibwe) is an Ojibwe language on-line course designed to introduce new language learners to the structure of Ojibwe language orthography. Course topics include: the history of the language, the four language skills, working with tense markers, personal pronouns, nouns, verbs and more! It will provide you the learner, with the basic framework for Anishinaabemowin, which is the first step in learning this beautiful language.
Please note: To take an on-line course, you should have basic computer skills and the ability to access the Internet and perform email functions. Following registration, you will receive an email outlining procedures for accessing your online course, as well as information about ordering course materials and textbooks.
We are currently accepting applications for those interested in learning Conversational Anishinaabemowin ( Ojibwe, Odawa & Pottawatami family) as spoken in the Great Lakes Area. This course will concentrate on conversation key sentences, to use at work or social setting. The double vowel method is used. The four language skills listening, speaking writing and reading will be incorporated for each lesson.. There will be a variety of activities and interaction with other students. Students will be given the opportunity to participate in an atmosphere that is both entertaining and educational, thus giving a sense of pride in learning this beautiful language and cultural. A portion of the course lessons will be the basic Medicine Wheel Teachings. Our goal is to regain and retain Anishinaabemowin and culture.

This course is designed for those who have a desire to learn to speak the Ojibwe language. This exciting 4 day immersion program will allow participants to learn basic conversational Ojibwe in an informal, relaxed setting. Experience a variety of activities geared to learning the language including culturally relevant teachings, story telling and more! Ideal for both adults and children (12 years of age or older) this program is a excellent way to learn more of this beautiful and unique language!
Participants provide their own lunch.
