Students Helping Students
College courses move quickly and require students to take responsibility for large quantities of information within a very short period of time. Sometimes study groups can be formed within your class or program to support learning activities. However, when students require individualized learning, Peer Tutoring is there to help. Students who are experiencing academic difficulties are encouraged to apply for peer tutoring.
Students who need help with a particular subject must complete an application form that must be signed by their professor in order to receive peer tutoring assistance. These forms are located in the Student Services Department of the College (E1101). Student Services personnel will then make every attempt to match your request with a peer tutor.
The Peer Tutoring Program encourages students to help their peers by paying them $10.25 / hour for one on one tutoring, and $11.25 / hour for group tutoring. The service is provided free of charge to tutees.
Students interested in tutoring must have at least a ‘B' average in the subject they wish to tutor and must complete an application form which includes a recommendation by their professor.
For more information on receiving tutoring or on being a tutor please drop by the Student Services Department, Room E1101.
