International University College Division

Lake Superior State University and Sault College

Sault College and LSSU have some special articulations which will enable you to earn a Bachelor’s degree after you complete your diploma.  If you are registered in one of these four program areas – Computer Studies, Criminal Justice, Liberal Studies or Occupational Therapist/ Physiotherapist Assistant – you are eligible to participate in the International University College Division.  To participate, you need to complete a “Sault College-to-LSSU Dual Enrolment Form”.  Here are some of the advantages:

  • The opportunity of taking an LSSU course every semester while you are still full-time at Sault College.
  • Registering for that course through your academic department and  the Sault College Registrar.
  • Paying Sault College credit hour fees for the course – IF you are over the Sault College program hours that semester.  If you are not over the program hours, you will not have to pay anything for the LSSU class.  In either case, it’s a great savings.  (At LSSU, in 2007-2008, you would pay $299 U.S. [subject to change every year] + fees per credit hour.  So, a three-credit course would normally cost you $906 U.S.  If you take it by registering as a dual enrolee through Sault College and you have to pay tuition for it, the same course will cost you approximately $250-300 Canadian).
  • Having your dual enrolment form serve as your application to LSSU.  This saves you a $35 U.S. application fee.
  • As well, the Sault College Registrar will regularly forward your academic information to LSSU Admissions and their Registrar.  At specific points in your Sault College program, your transcript will be sent over, including your official final transcript once you graduate.  This saves you the $16+ you would normally pay for transcripts.
  • Working with Anne Kasch, to develop your tentative degree completion plan.  Through this, you will see how your Sault College courses are recognized at LSSU and which courses you will still have to take to earn your degree.  You will also see how long it would take you to complete the degree.
  • Registering for your first full-time semester of LSSU courses before you graduate from Sault College.  This usually ensures you get into the classes you need.
  • Opportunity to take the Compass Math Assessment Test (if necessary) before you transfer.
  • If you earn a Sault College Liberal Studies diploma with the right mix of courses, you will receive the General Education certification stamp on your diploma.  LSSU will recognize that stamp as equivalent to the General Education courses it requires its students to take in every degree – meaning you will already have satisfied these classes.  This can save you up to 39 credits once you transfer.
